12 pm Dinner and Awards Program

There will be some changes at this year’s convention. Probably the biggest will be the elimination of the Saturday evening awards banquet. We recognized attendance has been shrinking for the Saturday night event, since many were going home early. Therefore, we have made the noon lunch on Saturday as the Awards Luncheon and convention activities should be wrapped up by 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon, which should allow those attending the convention ample opportunity to return home Saturday afternoon. We also realized it is hard for some to be in attendance for the Thursday evening get acquainted party, so we have made the Thursday evening meal an option on the registration form and allow a $10 reduced convention fee if you decide not to take part in that meal.

Linda Rohde will once again be the showcase manager and will again look forward to some great entertainment acts during the convention, plus there will be plenty of time to visit with our Associate Members during the convention.

There will be some very timely topics covered at our workshops and roundtable sessions. Our keynote speaker will be Jeremy Parsons, manager of the Clay County Fair in Spencer Iowa. His keynote address will be part of the activities on Friday at noon, and will focus on the importance of the fair to the community it is located in and the many different efforts needed to put a successful fair together each year. He will provide the tools needed to “Take Care” of your fair. That is important since we are all “Caretakers” at our fair or event.
